COMPANY MEMO
Store Operations
Stores will continue to operate as normal, which is to say that everything will be where it ought to be, provided everyone puts it back where it came from.
Recent checks have found a small number of items left in the wrong locations, returned without labels, or placed on shelves simply because there happened to be a gap. This may seem harmless at the time, but it does make things unnecessarily difficult for the next person looking for them.
Please make sure that all equipment, garments, packaging and general stock are returned to the correct section after use. If you are unsure where something belongs, leave it with Stores and attach a note. Please do not guess. Guessing is how we end up with mugs in Dispatch, caps in Cleaning Supplies, and one very confused box of medium hoodies under Electrical.
Deliveries should be checked promptly and any shortages, damage or unexpected substitutions reported before stock is put away. Once an item has been mixed into general stock, it becomes considerably harder to work out what happened and even harder to explain it to Accounts.
Personal items should not be stored on stock shelves. This includes coats, lunch bags, tools brought from home and, regrettably, half-finished cups of tea. There is a place for most things, but the returns shelf is not one of them.
If you need anything issuing, replacing or setting aside, please ask. I would much rather make a note of it properly than discover later that somebody has “borrowed” the last one.
Thank you for helping to keep Stores reasonably orderly.
